The first 3dtvs are now available for purchase in the UK.
from the London Evening Standard. The £1,800 Samsung C7000 is the first consumer 3D TV to hit store shelves.
The first 40-inch TV will be available from John Lewis' flagship store on Oxford Street, although to have anything to watch consumers will also have to buy a £349 3D Blu Ray player. If they buy both, two free pairs of 3D glasses are also thrown in.
The TV is the first of many set to high living rooms in coming months, with Sony already taking preorders in Harrods for its set, due to launch in June.
John Kempner, buyer for vision at John Lewis says, “3D TV is an incredibly exciting technology, and once again John Lewis is first to market. Manufacturers like to use us as their launch partner because our customers are always early adopters of new technology.”
However, the store admits that at present there is very little to actually watch - although purchasers will also get a copy of animated Dreamworks film Monsters vs Aliens on DVD.
